WakeUp

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: July 26, 2026
Last Updated: July 26, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to WakeUp ("we," "our," or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the WakeUp mobile application and related services.

2. Information Processed

WakeUp processes your information locally on your device and through integrated cloud services.

2.1 Firebase Account Data

If you create an account, we use Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication to verify your identity. Through these services, we may process:

Note: We do not receive or store your Google password. Your name and email address are not displayed in the Backup & Privacy screen.

Our cloud backend utilizes Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions for Firebase, and Firebase Cloud Messaging.

2.2 Local Data (Alarms, Focus, and other app data)

WakeUp locally processes information such as:

3. Android Backup and Local Data

4. Manual Cloud Backups (Focus)

You can manually initiate a cloud backup of your Focus data. This backup may include:

Important constraints:

5. Accountability

If you use the Accountability features, we may process partner invitations, intended recipients, invitation status, partner relationships, consent settings, revocation/removal state, shared accountability events, and notification-delivery state.

Anyone signed into WakeUp who possesses a valid invitation code may accept it before it expires. Invitation codes are secret, time-limited and single-use. Furthermore:

6. Advertising and Privacy Choices

WakeUp displays non-personalized advertisements through Google AdMob. Ads are selected contextually rather than using inferred interests or past behavioral profiles.

Non-personalized advertising does not mean that no information is processed. Google and participating advertising partners may process:

WakeUp does not pass alarm labels, Focus titles, tasks, private notes, Study data, Faith data, partner messages, mission media, or cloud-backup contents to AdMob as targeting information.

WakeUp uses Google UMP (User Messaging Platform) to request or manage privacy choices where required. Depending on your region and consent status, WakeUp may request non-personalized ads, limited ads, or refrain from requesting ads. Ad availability must not affect alarms, Focus timers, account deletion, backup, or other core app functionality.

Users can revisit privacy choices through: Settings → Backup & Privacy → Advertising Privacy.

7. Analytics

Firebase Analytics collection is disabled by default in the current release. WakeUp does not currently use Firebase Analytics for automatic behavioral profiling. Note that Google Mobile Ads may still process ad interactions and diagnostics independently of Firebase Analytics.

8. Notifications and Device Permissions

WakeUp uses device permissions and services to provide its core functionality. These functional permissions are not themselves used to derive personalized advertising profiles. We may use:

9. Purposes of Processing

We process your information exclusively to provide the WakeUp service, ensure reliable alarm operation, synchronize manual Focus backups, deliver accountability notifications, and maintain app security and functionality.

10. Service Providers and Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with trusted service providers necessary to operate the app (such as Google Cloud and Firebase) or with your explicitly authorized Accountability partners.

11. Retention

We retain cloud data only as long as needed to provide supported cloud features, comply with legal or security obligations, and complete reliable deletion processing. WakeUp initiates deletion or cleanup of supported cloud account data associated with your account when you use the in-app account deletion flow. Some information may be retained temporarily where required for security, legal compliance, fraud prevention, or reliable deletion processing.

12. Security

HTTPS/TLS protects supported network transfers. Firebase provides infrastructure-level encryption at rest. Firestore rules restrict supported records according to authenticated ownership and relationships. However, please note that manual Focus backups are not client-side end-to-end encrypted.

13. International Processing

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside of your residence by our service providers (e.g., Google Cloud servers).

14. User Privacy Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can manage local data within the app and request deletion of your cloud account via the in-app tools.

15. Children's Privacy

WakeUp is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

16. Account Deletion

Users can delete their WakeUp cloud account through the in-app Delete Account function. For detailed instructions on the deletion route, supported cloud cleanup, and how to erase remaining local data, please see our Account Deletion page.

17. Health and Alarm Reliability Disclaimer

WakeUp is an alarm and productivity tool. It is not a medical device and should not be relied upon for critical, life-saving, or medical alerts. While we strive for extreme reliability, device manufacturers may restrict background execution or battery usage, which can affect alarm delivery.

18. Policy Updates

We may update this policy periodically. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Policy updates will also describe material future changes to features such as Analytics processing.
