Account Deletion
If you no longer wish to use WakeUp and want to delete your cloud account, you can do so directly within the app.
In-App Deletion Steps
Please follow these steps to request deletion of your WakeUp cloud account:
- Open the WakeUp application on your device.
- Navigate to: Profile → Account → Delete Cloud Account → Delete Account.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm the deletion. Note: Identity verification (such as re-authenticating with Google) may be required before the deletion is finalized.
What Cloud Data is Targeted?
Account deletion is server-orchestrated and supports retry-safe processing. When you delete your account, WakeUp initiates deletion or cleanup of supported cloud account data. Current supported cleanup targets include:
- Your Firebase Authentication account (removed only after required cloud cleanup)
- Your WakeUp user profile document and nested supported subcollections
- Your manual Focus cloud backup
- Your outgoing Accountability events
- Invitations created by, addressed to, or accepted by you
- Your partner relationships
- Your FCM token and Accountability settings
- Transient deletion-progress records (after completion)
What Data Remains?
WakeUp is an offline-first app. Deleting your cloud account does not automatically erase ordinary local app data. Information remaining on your phone includes:
- Your local alarms, settings, and media files
- Your local Focus, Study, Faith, and Pomodoro history
Additionally: Account deletion cannot erase accountability notifications or copies of events already delivered to another user or device. It also does not necessarily delete information independently retained by Google for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or advertising-system obligations (e.g., via AdMob).
Clearing Local Data
To completely remove all remaining local data from your device, you must:
- Clear the app storage via your device's Android Settings (e.g., Settings > Apps > WakeUp > Storage > Clear Data), OR
- Uninstall the WakeUp application entirely.
Data Retention and Legal Obligations
Some information may be retained temporarily where required for security, legal compliance, fraud prevention, or reliable deletion processing. Firebase or Google Cloud may also retain operational or security logs according to their infrastructure policies.
